Did you know that anger, like all emotions, is a signal?


It has a function.


It lets us know that something is wrong within us.

  • Our values* are not respected.

  • Our rights are violated.

  • Our needs are not met.


When you feel angry, here's an anger management technique to use to discover the signal and its function.




The ingredients of anger management

  • Your 2 Hands

  • 2 opening verbs

    • TO ALLOW

    • TO PROTECT

  • 3 action verbs

    • TO BE

    • TO HAVE

    • TO DO

The Technique

  • In one hand, put the verb ALLOW

  • In the other hand, put the verb PROTECT


For each the opening verb, you will add actions verb in order to get these inspiring sentences :


  • Anger ALLOWS me to BE what?

  • Anger ALLOWS me to HAVE what ?

  • Anger ALLOWS me to DO what ?

  • Anger PROTECTS me to BE what ?

  • Anger PROTECTS me to HAVE what ?

  • Anger PROTECTS me to DO what ?


The Red Flags

Usually, when you first ask yourself these questions, your brain answers : "Well, nothing ! Anger doesn't allow me to do anything !"


Ask yourself the question several times.


Take the time to immerse yourself in these questions.

Take the time to breathe through your answers.
